We are very proud of our school community. Our teachers, students, and programs are first rate and have been the recipients of many distinguished awards.

Awards and Accolades Spring 2022

  • BES Principal Is Outstanding
    Branchville Elementary Principal Keith Margolus won the 2022 Connecticut PTA “Dawn Hochsprung” Outstanding Elementary School Principal award.
  • Class of 2022 National Merit Finalists
    Justine Corsilia (Princeton University, 2026) and Ellis Zusel (University of Wisconsin, 2026) are National Merit Finalists.
  • RHS Is Red, White, and Blue
    RHS earned the distinction of being a Red, White & Blue School! According to the CT State Department of Education, the Red, White, and Blue initiative aims “to promote the importance of civic involvement among Connecticut students of all ages."
  • Model UN
    RHS students Victor Uceda-Sosa and David Zaslavsky were recognized for outstanding contributions to their respective committees.
  • Mock Trial
    Ridgefield’s Mock Trial White team came in second out of 45 teams at the state championship competition. Julia Knispel (RHS Class of 2025) was named top witness in the state.

    The Ridgefield High School boys and girls distance medley teams earned All-American honors at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
  • Crew National Champions
    Claire Poremba, Katie and Sarah Rapaglia, and Julia Clavi (RHS Class of 2022) took gold at the 2022 US Rowing Youth Nationals in Sarasota, Florida.
  • Profiles of Courage Essay Contest
    Francesca Rossi, Ridgefield High School Class of 2023, earned honorable mention for her profile of Albert H. Roberts, former Governor of Tennessee.
  • Business Essay Competition
    Ridgefield High School business student and investment club president Corrie Vakil placed 1st in the country in the InvestWrite essay competition.
  • FBLA Goes to Nationals
    15 Future Business Leaders of America qualified and traveled to Nationals in Chicago.
  • Middle School Patriot Pen Essays
    Six Scotts Ridge Middle School students took top awards in the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriot Pen Essay Contest.
  • Elementary Musicians Play Carnegie Hall
    Ridgebury Elementary third-graders Ari and Mia Rothschild were selected as winners of the Crescendo International Music Competition.
  • RHS and ERMS Are No Place for Hate
    East Ridge Middle School and RHS earn No Place for Hate designation from ADL.
  • Teacher Receives Ben Bell’s Recognition
    East Ridge sixth-grade teacher Maureen Tyra named Ben’s Bell’s Bellee.
  • Haloes for RHS Theater Department
    The play All in the Timing won for best performance by a cast in an ensemble production and best specialty ensemble (Nate C., Motria H., Audrey H., and Henry R.).
