Message from the Director of Personnel

Established in 1709, Ridgefield is the site of the Revolutionary War 1777 “Battle of Ridgefield”. The town has maintained its colonial heritage while becoming a modern community. Known for its main street, Ridgefield’s Main Street is lined with boutiques, elegant restaurants and historic homes.  In 2006, Ridgefield was voted “The Best Town in Connecticut” by Connecticut Magazine.  Ridgefield is 55 miles northeast of New York City and 50 miles from Hartford.

The Town of Ridgefield offers a variety of cultural and arts events through various organizations including, the Ridgefield Playhouse and the Aldrich Museum.  There are opportunities for people interested in outdoor and physical fitness including hiking trails, aquatic and fitness programs, tennis, an ice skating rink, a skate park, and an 18 hole golf course.
