ERMS Main Office Questions
Who staffs the Main Office?
The secretaries who greet you in the East Ridge Main Office are Ms. Christine Marinaccio and Mrs. Cecilia Rosevalt. The principal, his secretary, and the assistant principals also have offices here. Their names are as follows: Principal, Mr. Martin Fiedler; the Principal's Secretary, Mrs. Georgiana Castellani; Assistant Principals, Dr. Adam Rosen and Mr. Jeffrey Swiatowicz.
The main office is open from 7:50 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and school hours for our students are from 8:00 a.m. when the warning bell sounds, to 2:50 p.m.
We are here to answer any questions you have about the school and to help you have a happy and positive experience at school.
The Attendance Line
If you are going to be absent or late to school, your parent needs to call the attendance hot line. The number is 203-438-3744 option #3.
The FAX Machine
Yes, we do have a Fax machine. The number is 203-431-2851. We use it for documents that relate to health and safety. Homework should NOT be faxed to the school.
Are you coming to school late?
If you are arriving at school after your homeroom teacher has completed attendance, you need to come to the Main Office and sign in. The Main office is like a gate. We keep track of whether your lateness is unexcused, excused - with a note or a phone call to the attendance line (203-438-3744 option #3), or lateness due to a doctor's appointment. We will give you a late pass to get into class.
Are you leaving school early?
Each school day new material and information is presented to students so it is important to be here. If you must leave school early, your parents must either send written notification or appear in person in the main office to release you from school. Notes should be given to the homeroom teacher or brought to the main office first thing in the morning. (Please make sure that your name is written legibly on any note.) Your name is then put on the early dismissal list. Tell the teacher at the beginning of the class that you will be leaving, and then get up quietly at the time written in the dismissal note and meet your parent at the front of the building.
If your parent had made a last minute appointment for you, they should come to the main office with enough time for us to find you and to sign you out.
It is best for parents not to plan on a student being signed out at the very end of the day since you will be caught in the dismissal and bus frenzy.
Are you going home on a different bus?
Anytime that you are going to someone else's house by bus you need a written bus note. Bus notes are collected during homeroom and brought to the main office. After lunch, signed bus notes are available for you to pick up from the main office counter. Give your note to the bus driver.
Do you need to contact your parent during the school day?
There is a telephone in the Main Office that students can use to make quick phone calls.
If you have forgotten something at home, for example, your lunch or an assignment, think about when you need it to arrive at school. You will want to give your parent a specific time that the forgotten object should be at the main office. Then it is your job to come pick it up before the class or lunch.
If you are trying to go home with someone else, it is best to organize you visit the night before. You will need a written bus note if you are trying to go on a bus to another student's house. Also, it is best to discuss walking into town with your parent the night before. It is very difficult to organize trips like these at the last minute.
