ERMS PTA Volunteer Sign-Up for 2011-2012 Committees

Dear Parents,

There are many opportunities that have different commitment levels.  Listed below are PTA committees we need volunteers to help with, and under each committee name you will find a brief description of what is involved with the specific activity.  Please consider your schedule and ours when filling out the attached form.

FALL COMMITTEES

___      6th Grade Orientation (Great for parents of upcoming 6th graders)

            Help students find classrooms and open lockers. (week before school)

    • (Help with planning, chaperoning & cleaning up at the student socials.)

 Forms can be dropped off at ERMS Main Office

 ___      8th Grade Social

            (Help with food/prize donations, chaperoning & cleaning up at the event.

  ___    Open House Hospitality

(Help arrange for and set-up refreshments for the ERMS Open House evening in September.)

 ___      Student Photos

            (Help on photo day in early October and retake day in November with coordinating classes, signing in     students, collecting photo orders, etc.)                            

 

                                    

WINTER COMMITTEE

___      6th & 7th Grade Ski Trip

  • (Help with paperwork during the planning stage of the trip.  Chaperone (skiing or in the lodge) on the day of the trip in February.)

SPRING COMMITTEES

___      Book Fair

  • (The ERMS book fair is held in late April/early May.  Help with set-up and/or take-down of the fair, and work at the fair during the day or the evening of 6th grade curriculum night.  Work is assigned in 2 hour shifts.)   

___      8th Grade End-of-Year Party - 8th Grade Parents Needed!

  • (Help with the advance planning and then with set-up, chaperoning and clean-up on the day of the event in June.)

___      8th Grade Graduation Reception - 6th & 7th Grade Parents Needed!

  • (6th and 7th grade parents are needed to help set-up during the ceremony and help with clean-up after the reception.  This event is held on the last day of school.)

THROUGHOUT THE YEAR COMMITTEES

___      Baking/Food Contribution

  • (Willing to bake or buy for staff appreciation lunches in August, December and/or May and/or for other PTA sponsored events during the school year.)

___      Helping Hands

  • (Help support ERMS families as needs arise with meals, baking, errands, carpooling, etc.)

___      In-School Student Activity Sign-Up

  • (Help register students for in-school activity sessions, once in the fall and once in the spring for 1 ½ hours    each time from 8-9:30 AM.)

___      Library

  • (Help shelve books, organize shelves, process new magazines, and complete data entry.  This can be an every week or every other week commitment on an hourly basis.)

___      Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-Up

  • (Help schedule conferences.  2 hour shifts, one week before each of the conference periods in November and March.)

___      Publicity

  • (Help Chairs cover potential stories for the Ridgefield Press.   May include writing, overseeing student writers and submitting articles to the Press.)
