AD_Bus Travel & Food on Buses
Off Campus Games
The Board of Education provides transportation to/from all away contests. All student athletes are to use this means of transportation.
- Under extraordinary circumstances, if a student athlete needs to ride home with his/her parents, the parents/guardian must complete the Request for Alternate Transportation form and submit it to the RHS Athletics Department for approval. Approved forms should be picked up by the student and given to their coach before the event. This form is also available in the Athletics Office.
- Traveling with another adult other than a parent for any reason requires a waiver signed by the parent and approved by the RHS Athletics Director.
- Student athletes are not permitted to drive themselves to/from athletic contests at any time, for any reason.
- To ensure a safe trip, student athletes are expected to follow all rules and regulations governing how students behave on the school bus.
- NO FOOD is to be eaten on the buses while transporting to/from athletic contests. New precautions are in place to protect those students who have life-threatening food allergies. All bus drivers have been provided with training concerning the effects of food allergies and emergency actions to be taken, if necessary. The largest food allergy problem is any food containing nut oils. Because it is impossible to know the ingredients of all foods students bring on the bus, we are taking the precautionary measure to eliminate any potential problems. Effective immediately, no food is to be eaten on buses. Water is the only liquid that may be consumed. Only food that is pre-packaged or appropriately wrapped may be brought on the bus, but not consumed.
Off Campus Practices
Parents and/or guardians are to be aware that golf, swim and ice hockey practices are not held on the Ridgefield School campus. Therefore, athletes' families must provide their own transportation to/from practice.
- Exception: Bus transportation to Barlow Mountain, Scotland schools for swim and soccer practices and the old high school and East Ridge Middle School for baseball practice is available each day from RHS. However, parents are responsible for providing transportation home when practice is over.
PLEASE CHECK THESE SCHEDULES OFTEN AS THEY DO CHANGE
TRANSPORTATION NOTES
Student Athletes who participate on the Freshman or JV Boys Soccer and Freshman or JV Girls Soccer can take the Bus Shuttle to their practice site. The swim team can also take the bus shuttle to their practices at Barlow Mountain School.
Note that both boys and girls freshman games will be played at East Ridge Middle School. Student Athletes must be picked up at their game/ practice site at the conclusion of their practice or game.
There are town bus shuttles that leave from the Community Entrance at RHS at 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm each day.
No food or drink can be consumed on these shuttles. The busses are used for the elementary schools immediately after dropping off our athletes. There are students with severe food allergies and crumbs or discarded food or beverage wrappers can present a serious health hazard.
Student Athletes are expected to travel to and from athletic events with their team. On those occasions when parents need to drive their child to or from an athletic event, please complete the Request for Alternate Transportation form. This note should be given to the coach prior to departure.
