School Hours & Marking Periods

We’re happy to post the planned school hours and marking schedule for easy access. Please be aware that depending on the number of snow days that occur, which we hope are not many, we may need to make an occasional change.

Ridgefield High School
Start - 7:25 a.m.
2 hour delay - 9:25 a.m.
3 hour delay - 10:25 a.m.
Early dismissal - 10:30 a.m.
Regular dismissal - 2:15 p.m.

East Ridge and Scotts Ridge Middle Schools
Start - 8:00 a.m.
2 hour delay - 10:00 a.m.
3 hour delay - 11:00 a.m.
Early dismissal - 11:05 a.m.
Regular dismissal - 2:50 p.m.

Branchville, Ridgebury, and Scotland Elementary Schools
Start - 8:35 a.m.
2 hour delay - 10:35 a.m.
3 hour delay - 11:35 a.m.
Early dismissal - 11:40 a.m.
Regular dismissal - 3:25 p.m.

Barlow Mountain, Farmingville, and Veterans Park Elementary Schools
Start - 9:10 a.m.
2 hour delay - 11:10 a.m.
3 hour delay - 12:10 p.m.
Early dismissal - 12:15 p.m.
Regular dismissal - 4:00 p.m.

Occasionally weather conditions may worsen later in the day, past standard early dismissal times above. In such instances, students will be dismissed as soon as buses arrive at schools. It is recommended that parents discuss a plan with their children if this were to happen and children were to arrive home earlier than usual.

2022–2023 Preschool Hours

We offer a top-notch preschool (PreK) program at BMES. The AM PreK students attend their classroom sessions Monday–Thursday for their selected days. Our PM PreK students attend their classroom sessions Monday–Friday for their selected days.

When there is a two or three hour delayed opening, AM PreK is canceled while PM PreK will proceed as usual. When there is an early dismissal, all AM Pre-K students will dismiss at their normal time, and PM PreK is canceled.

Early dismissal for AM preschool is 30 minutes later than the regular dismissal time.

3 hour delay - No Extended Day Program
Early dismissal - 11:40 a.m.
Extended Early Dismissal - 12:40 p.m.
Regular dismissal - 1:15 p.m.

AM PreK
Start - 8:35 a.m.
2 hour delay - No AM Program
3 hour delay - No AM Program
Early dismissal - 11:40 a.m.*
Extended Early Dismissal - 12:40 p.m.
Regular dismissal - 11:10 a.m.

PM PreK
Start -12:50 p.m.
2 hour delay - 12:50 p.m.

*On an early dismissal schedule the AM session will dismiss 30 minutes later than the regular dismissal time.

**On an extended early dismissal schedule the AM session will dismiss 1.5 hours later than the regular dismissal time.

AM parents have the option to pick up their child at 11:10 a.m. - regular dismissal time

For AM students who stay the additional 1.5 hours, lunch will be provided.

2022–2023 PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Elementary schools - All three days are early dismissal days for elementary students. Each elementary school will notify parents of the chosen date when conference hours are extended into the evening. Info will be posted to their school’s website as well.

Middle schools - These three days are early dismissal days for middle school students.

  • Friday, October 28
  • Friday, November 4

Middle schools - These are full days of instruction. The times are evening conference times only.

  • Thursday, October 27

2022–2023 Marking Periods & Quarter End Dates

Marking period start and end dates can be found on specific school websites. Posting these dates on school websites allows the district to update marking periods and quarter end dates when weather-related closings could impact academic calendars.
