Ridgefield Public Schools
Our shared purpose is to provide highly engaging, relevant and personalized learning for ALL members of the community

Registration & Immunizations

Congratulations on your decision to enroll your child at one of the schools in our great district. Whether your child is entering school for the first time or is transferring from another district, we have all the necessary information and forms here for your convenience. Welcome!

Prior to registering a child in Ridgefield Public Schools, we require proof of residency in the Town of Ridgefield. Permanent residency (physical presence with intent to remain) in Ridgefield is the primary requirement to enroll in Ridgefield Public Schools. A land owner, taxpayer, or business owner does not confer residency privileges for school enrollment purposes.

We must verify residency of all students enrolled and new to Ridgefield Public Schools.

2020–2021 and 2021–2022 School year Registrations

Currently, we will not require in-person registration appointments. You may email or mail registration documents for review. Documents mailed may take longer to process. Ridgefield Public Schools reserves the right to require parents/guardians to provide the district registrar with the student's original birth certificate or unexpired passport and a parent/guardian photo ID at a later date.

Registration Documents

If you would like to register your child, you may email the district registrar or mail the following documents to our offices:

  • A clear copy of the student's birth certificate or unexpired passport. The certification seal must be clearly visible.
  • Parent/guardian photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID card)
  • Proof of residency (see below)
  • Two current utility bills (see below)
  • Ridgefield Public Schools registration form
  • Ridgefield Public Schools release of records (one for each student registering) (not required for incoming 2021–2022 kindergarten student.)
  • Most recent school records including report cards and transcripts, if available
  • Connecticut Health Assessment Record (all incoming students must have had a physical exam within 12 months of starting in RPS)
  • Connecticut Oral Health Screening
    • Required for all currently-enrolled RPS students entering 6th and 9th grades and for all new students enrolling in Ridgefield Public Schools.
  • Kindergarten Medical History Form - Required for Kindergarten Only
  • Proof of legal guardianship, if applicable
  • Proof of legal custody/primary residence, if applicable
  • IEP and/or 504 plan, if applicable
  • 3rd party release - required for all students who have IEP/504 plan

Upon verification of the required documents, the student will be pre-enrolled in the district. We will not formally enroll the student until the district school nurse confirms Connecticut state health compliance.

    Acceptable Proof of Residency

    • All documents must include the same name and address.
