Educational Technology and Information Services
Technology is not a subject students study. It is the environment in which they learn, create, connect, and grow. Every decision our department makes is built around one question: does this genuinely benefit students?
Before any application reaches a classroom, we evaluate it through the Triple E Framework (Kolb, 2017). Does it engage students in the learning goal? Does it enhance that goal beyond what a traditional tool could offer? Does it extend learning into authentic, real-world application? If a tool merely entertains or adds no instructional value, it does not belong here.
We are equally committed to access and equity. Every student deserves a reliable device, a strong connection, and the skills to use both. Every staff member deserves training and support that makes technology feel like an asset, not a burden.
Behind all of it is our IT and operations team, keeping networks stable, devices running, and systems secure across every building in the district. Their work makes everything else possible.
Student data is taken seriously here as well. Every application used with students is reviewed for compliance with FERPA and the Connecticut Student Data Privacy Act before it enters a single classroom.
We are glad you are here. This department belongs to all of us.

For Parents
Every application used with your child is reviewed for privacy and security before it reaches a classroom. See how, and how to request your child’s records or ask about a specific tool: Student Data Privacy.
For Teachers and Staff
Requesting approval for a new classroom tool follows a three-step process: confirm whether the tool requires student data, complete a privacy review, then a curricular review. Full process: Requesting a New Tool
Device or account issue: contact the Helpdesk, not an individual technician (see Contact below).
